  • As part of risk assessment team, performed quantitative risk assessments on several PCB congeners (occupational setting) and lead exposure (residential setting) showing minimal risk and resulting in substantial savings to our clients.
  • Consulting expert providing litigation support to several oil companies responding to U.S. EPA site remediation plan.
  • Specific industrial hygiene/toxicology expertise was critical to assessing risk associated with exposure to elevated sulfur dioxide levels and heat stress concern regarding work in hot environment with workers in Level A personal protection.
  • Professional input on these matters saved the oil companies money and led to a successful remediation without adverse health events.
  • Part of a due diligence team investigating workforce's electroplating operations and chemical handling procedures leading to recommendations to enhance safety.
  • This information along with substantial environmental data was used by client to better determine potential liabilities in purchase of precision machining business.

SARA, (Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Law) Coordinator- EPA, 1986 - 1988

  • Developed and provided numerous presentations to public and industry groups on the SARA,(Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act) Title III provisions.
  • These outreach efforts were greatly appreciated by EPA Region III clients and the public resulting in an enhanced understanding by the public of threats relating to chemical use and storage in the immediate neighborhoods and improved community safety.

Regional Health and Safety Manager, 1988 - 1990

  • Designed, conducted, and prepared reports based on ambient air monitoring for lead during a large lead removal project and conducted compound specific monitoring for several EPA Removal Actions on Superfund sites.
  • Additionally, development of numerous health and safety plans and assistance with their implementation resulted in no adverse health or safety events for 25-field scientists in 2-year period.

Biospherics Inc., Rockville, MD, Associate Consultant, 1985 - 1986

  • As Associate Consultant, oversaw numerous asbestos abatement projects and worked as part of a team on several high visibility Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) projects at the Phillips Art Gallery, U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Pentagon and Social Security Administration Building.
  • Several of these studies identified problem conditions and recommended corrective actions.
  • The resolution of the issues led to increased employee productivity and an improved relationship between management and employees.
