  • Scientist, Corporate R&D, Physical Sciences Laboratory,

Gradually increasing set of responsibilities and advancement up the technical ladder over the years, culminating in the senior technical leadership role at Dow indicated by the rank of Scientist.

  • Developed and implemented the SYNTHIA software program for predicting polymer properties. It was commercialized globally by Dow Chemical via a licensing arrangement in early 1993.

1982 - 1986 Energy Conversion Devices, Inc., Troy, MI, Senior Research Scientist

  • Used theoretical chemistry and theoretical solid state physics to study advanced inorganic materials developed for photovoltaic, electrical and optical switching, and hydrogen storage applications.

1981 - 1982 Post doctoral Research Fellow, University of California at Berkeley

  • Research areas of the theory of molecular electronic structure, dynamics of molecular rearrangements, and quantum mechanical calculations on specific systems.

Honors & Publications

  • Author of Prediction of Polymer Properties (revised and expanded third edition published by Marcel Dekker, New York, 2002).
  • More than 60 scientific publications over a vast range of materials science and technology. Most of these publications are articles in refereed journals. They also include several book chapters and several invited review articles. Two patent applications (pending) on polyurethanes containing reinforcing fillers.
