Engineering Experts Consulting Overview
The engineering disciplines are commonly segmented into the following groups, with a few specific examples of the engineering discipline mentioned:
- Chemical Engineering: Chemical plants, chemical processes, unit operations, mass and heat balances, fluid flow, materials handling, chemical processing equipment.
- Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical parts, part design, part assembles and subsystems, mechanical systems (e.g., engines, gear trains), heating and air conditioning, and structural analysis.
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering: Processes related to the design and manufacture of electrical wires, circuit boards, discrete devices, control system and power conditioners (electrical); and, process related to the design and fabrication of integrated circuits and all semiconductor devices (elecronic).
- Materials Engineering: The application of materials to a specific chemical, mechanical, or electrical system, including such issues as materials strength, durability, corrosion resistance, and hybrid functional proprieties, such as electro chemical processes.
- Civil Engineering: Engineering, design and construction related to structures, including buildings, bridges, roads, dams and smaller system such as water treatment and municipal service facilities.
- Geo Engineering: Ocean engineering, earth engineering, atmosphere and air engineering, surveying and mapping, all applied science disciplines related to the earth, water, and air.
The engineering disciplines overlap a consultant skilled in several engineering fields are often needed. For example, electrical engineering in the fabrication of semiconductor devices depends heavily on chemical engineering and chemical processing. CECON is expert in suggesting engineering talent skilled across the engineering fields.
Chemical Engineering
CECON excels at finding the chemical engineering talent required for specific chemical, pharmaceutical and biological processes. Specific and indepth chemical engineering talent and engineering teams can be assigned to a project in these selected technologies:
- Chemical process research and design based on existing manufacturing processes, patent literature, licensing opportunities and basic chemical engineering principals.
- Process flow diagrams (PFD) segmented by unit operations and sized to the capacity of the chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, biological, petroleum and related chemical engineering processes.
- Mass and heat balances of the chemical process.
- Equipment identification and sizing, including heat exchangers, distillation columns, pumps, piping, vessels, storage facilities and process sensors, controls and safety systems.
- Process chemists expert on raw material specifications, in process quality control, and chemical reaction kinetics that could be related to catalysis, temperature, pressure, material concentration, and other kinetic and thermodynamic issues.
- Process design and simulation using such tools as "Aspen Plus" and "Aspen Polymer Plus."
- Project Managers are available skilled in the overall program management and engineering of complex chemical engineering jobs.
- Chemical engineers in the Cecon network are often grouped in project teams to complete the basic chemical engineering to define the chemical processes, unit operations, mass and heat balance and other basic chemical engineering data necessary for final process design and development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
Other Engineering Disciplines
There are many other subsegments of engineering. To name a few: Aeronautical engineering, biotechnology engineering, computer science engineering, automotive engineering, biomedical engineering, software engineering, safety and risk management engineering, polymer engineering, architectural engineering, and so forth. The list goes on and on.
Below are are selected consultants that are skilled in specific engineering fields, listed alphabetically by discipline.
