Experience
1981 - Present Independent Consultant
1978 - 1981 Tennaco Chemicals, Inc., Application Engineer: Extensive development work in lubrication for extrusion of PVC sidings and profiles; exploring new theory of calendering for flame-resistant PVC sheets.
1976 - 1978 Scientific Process and Research, Director Plastics Engineering: Responsible for marketing computer software, research on friction properties of plastics on steel for adequate solids conveying in extruder screws. Teaching and lecturing on computer techniques.
1967 - 1976 General Cable Research Center, Group Manager: Directed multi million power cable improvement project; directed analytical laboratory. As Research Advisor (1967-1973), managed raw materials group of 19 responsible for power cables; telephone cables, building and appliance wire. Personally designed 38 screws for all types of extruders.
1960 - 1967 Western Electric, Senior Development Engineer: Developed instrumental techniques, extruder designs, standardized PVC compounds which reduced costs. Set new standards for measuring thermal instability of PVC.
1954 - 1960 Union Carbide, Silicone Division: Synthesized and developed elastomers, oils, and filler coating for large product improvement. Developed the strongest silicone elastomer made prior to 1963. Increased filled epoxy resin strength 25%.
1951 - 1954 Du Pont, Experiential Station, Chemist: Worked on polyethylene thermal aging and characterization. Discovered means for detecting thermal instability in polyethylene.
