• Four National Academy of Science Committees: On fuel economy, exhaust emissions, diesel engines, fuels, exhaust and aftertreatment.

Detroit Diesel Corporation, Detroit, MI, Executive Vice President Engineering, 1988 - 1999

• Chief Technical Officer and Member of the Detroit Diesel (DDC) Executive Committee.
• Worked closely with Roger Penske on many projects.
• Introduced new diesel engine in 1988 resulting in market share increasing from 3% to 28%.
• Developed several alternate fuel engines, methanol, ethanol, and natural gas.
• Developed three new engine series in cooperation with Daimler Benz, Series 55, 2000, 4000.
